On the Grow Birthday Card

Hi everyone it sure was a hot day here again and for the next 2 days too, so it was a good day to stay inside and play in the craft room!

I think this is about one of my favorite stamps that I've gotten recently. I LOVE to color, even as a little girl. One year for Christmas I got a box of crayons with 96 crayons in it and I really had a hard time letting anyone else use them as I didn't want my boy cousins' to break them, I wanted them to last forever! I really had a fun time with my blender pen and ink pad and markers the other day coloring this. I will definitely be making more cards with this stamp!

See the plaid background? I did that with an ink pad, brayer and the new Stampin' Up Stripes embossing folder. You ink up your brayer and apply the ink to one side of the embossing folder, run it thru your machine, than re-ink the folder again, but turn your card stock, than run it thru your machine a second time and that is what you get! I found this techiqune HERE, you will have to scroll down the post to see the card, Jan's card is so pretty too!

Card Recipe:
Stamps: On the Grow, Petite Pairs
Ink: Pool Party (use this with the blender pen to color the glass jar with), Black StaZon, Pretty In Pink and Black
Markers: Pink Pirouette, Pretty In Pink, Certainly Celery, Old Olive and Bashful Blue
Card stock: Pretty In Pink, Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White
Embossing folders: Dotted Swiss, Stripes
Brayer
Seam Binding: Certainly Celery
Punch: Oval-medium
Sponge
Sticky Strip

Well, that is it for this post, I hope you all have a great day too! Mary

Sunny Fun using Color Coach

Hi everyone! Sorry to be MIA but with hubby at home every day, life is different around here now, not in a bad way, but it is just different! We've been busy around the house and yard trying to catch up things that were put off because of the very HOT summer we had.

Here is the third image that is in the Sunny Fun stamp set, it also has two sentiments too. I didn't know what colors to use so I pulled out my Color Coach and started with Tempting Turquoise as the card base. I also used Real Red and Pumpkin Pie. This is way out of my comfort zone but seeing it here on the screen, I like how summery and cheerful it turned out! I colored the image in with my markers and put three brads in the top corner. Before I put everything on the card base, I ran it thru the new embossing folder, Stripes, from Stampin' Up to give it some texture.

Well that is it for today, hopefully I will be able to schedule more time in the craft room this week, have a great day! Mary

Hello Doily Retro Card

Hi everyone! I hope you all are having a great day today, I know I am.

Well as you noticed on the post title, I called this a retro card. You are probably wondering why. As a small girl growing up in a small town in Iowa (1950's), I saw many of these types of doilies in my Grandmother's house. She would daily pick up her crochet hook and do some kind of creating with it. I remember seeing at least one doily crochet with turquoise thread. Boy, some of the doilies that she use to make were really works of art. Oh and of course you had to always starch them to make them lay just so or even stand up with some of the patterns. Oh and not all doilies where white or ecru, they would use other colors too!

When I saw this stamp set in the catalog, I immediately thought of my mom and grandma, so I had to get it. My mom is going thru some health issues with her one eye and so I made this to send to her to let her know that I have her in my prayers. I sure wish I could share this with my grandma! I used all Stampin' Up! products.

Card recipe is:
Card stock: Black, Whisper White and Tempting Turquoise
Stamp: Hello Doily!
Ink: Tempting Turquoise and Black

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my simple creation! Thank you so much for dropping in and visiting with me for awhile, I LOVE company, lol! Have a crafty day......................Mary

Sunny Fun Using Sketch Challenge #215

Hi everyone, sorry to be MIA, but the hot spell has been broken here and hubby and I have been busy working in the yard, which was way long overdue because of the heat. The yard is finally starting to look good again and YA we had over an inch of rain too!

Here is another image from the stamp set called "Sunny Fun" out of the holiday mini from Stampin' Up!. I also used the Stamping 411 sketch from last week end and flip it on it's side. I left the sentiment off and will add one later as I need it.

Recipe:
Card stock: So Saffron, Pool Party, Whisper White and Not Quite Navy
Designer paper is from the Subtles package
Embossing folder; Lattice Square
Ribbon; 1/4 inch So Saffron
SU markers

Thanks for stopping in to see me, I appreciate it! Mary

Touch of Kindness, Sketch Challenge #215

Hi everyone, how has your day started off?

Today I want to share a card that I made so that I could play along with the Stamping411 gals. You can find the sketch challenge HERE. They can be alot of fun to play along with.

I used all Stampin' Up! products for this card. The stamp set is in the summer mini and it is called Touch of Kindness. I used Marina Mist, Crumb Cake and Whipser White card stock. The larger piece of Marina Mist has been run thru the lattice embossing folder. I used StaZon black ink to stamp my image with and markers to color it in with. Seam binding is also Marina Mist. Crumb Cake seam binding would have been nice on this too. Oh, I used the subtles designer series paper for the background behind the cat.

Thanks for visiting with me today! Have a crafty one................Mary

Happy Moments Thank You Card

Hi to all of you! Well, it has cool down some in our neck of the woods, hopefully this awful heat wave is over!

Today I want to share a card that was inspired by THIS ONE. As you can see I didn't copy it totally because for one thing I didn't have any of that ribbon and I don't have any of those brads either, so I used what I had handy. The ribbon was a scrap that was lying on my table but was not long enough to make a bow with, so I put down some red sticky tape and made the ends pretty and bunched it up in the middle! Now I added a safety pin with a tiny tag punch stamped with "Thank You" on it. Since it is just pinned to the ribbon, I can always change the sentiment, if I need too. The embossed area is done with the new embossing folder from Stampin' Up!. I love how elegant it makes a card look and feel! The stamp set is a retired one from Stampin' Up! called Happy Moments; card stock is Whisper White and the image is colored in with SU markers. Ribbon and safety pin are non su. A very clean and simple card and quick too!

Hope it is starting to cool off in your parts and thanks for stopping by.................Mary

Quilted Thinking of You Card

Hello to all of my card making friends! Hope you are all doing well and your week too! Yesterday it got to 108 degrees here, now that is just WAY to HOT! I can't wait for fall now, my poor flowers and yard are just totally gone.

Today I want to show you my first attempt on making a inlaid embossed quit pattern. It's ok, I think I should have made the rings a solid color instead of using designer paper or used solid card stock for the pieces in the circles. I'm going to experiment with this some more to see if I can improve on the looks of this. I found some samples of this type of card on Mary Fish's blog HERE . Oh my are they ever so pretty! Click on the picture to get a better view.

I used mainly Stampin' Up! products.
Card stock: Regal Rose, Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White
Ink: Black
Lattice die
Stamp set: On the Grow (sentiment)
pearls
Ribbon: Pretty In Pink
Designer paper- non SU
Tombow glue (green and white container)

Well that is my share for today, I'm glad you stopped by to visit with me, stay cool! Mary

Elegant Wedding Card

Hi everyone, how are you all doing? This heat makes me think of a Sonny and Cher song, "An the Beat Goes On", except it should be..."and the heat goes on, and the heat goes on...". Now try and get that out of your head for the rest of the day...me BAD!!

Ok, I want to share with you a card that I made for one of my cousin's who is getting married next month, well actually, I think he is my second cousin, but none the less, a cousin. I asked his mom what the colors were for the wedding and she said they were black and white with just a hint of red. Well the first thing that popped into my head was this card. I showed one of these last year on my blog HERE. I found the pattern for this card on Stamp-n-Design. It is a FREE pattern!! This time when I made it, I added some Dazzling Diamonds to the dress, so pretty! I used Stampin' Up! Bride Speciality paper which is retired, scraps of red ribbon and red card stock and some non-SU button brads. Just click on the picture to get a closer view of the card. Also added a pearl because I didn't have any sparkly brads to use, but I think it came out really nice! What do you think??? Please leave a comment and let me know, thanks!

Well that's it for today, hope to see you back again soon! Mary
