Convention Make and Take

Hi everyone!  I hope you had a great week-end, ours was quite, we got up early and went to the City Market here in town, stopped first for breakfast.  We picked up some ears of corn, freshly picked the day before!  Yum can't wait to eat some, first of the season for us.  We had beautiful weather here in KC, low's in the 50's and high's in the 70's, can't get any better than that for July.

Here is a card that we made in the Make & Take area at convention.  Since I was a helper, we got to do ours the day before.  I really like the stamp sets that they gave us at convention this year, I always wonder how they pick which ones to give?  Now after I had my picture taken, I noticed that I was missing the button for the front (should be right next to the ampersand and towards the bottom left.  I've looked all over for it but I must have lost it along the way somewhere.  Oh well, it makes this card a "no extra postage" card this way and I could always add some baker's twine too, if I wanted too.  It's very grunge, which seems to be the "in" style right now too.

Products used:

Stamps: Gorgeous Grunge and Hello, Lovely
Card stock: Whisper White, Crisp Cantaloupe, Costal Cabana (Core-dinations)
Silver Glimmer paper
Ink: Bermuda Bay, Crisp Cataloupe, Coastal Cabana, Old Olive, Summer Starfruit
Marker: Calypso Coral
Baker's Twine (missing from mine)
Very Vintage Designer Button (missing from mine)
Washi Tape: Epic Day This & That
Punch: 1 3/4" circle

Well this is my share for today, hope too see you Wednesday, Mary

Artisan 3-D Entries

Today I thought I would share with you some of the Artisan contestants 3-D entries.  Now I don't have names to put with these very cute items, but if you know who submitted them, I will be happy to add their names to the pictures.  The picture above uses the new Tag a Bag Gift Boxes, page 158 in catalog.  This person choose to make it into a cute little flower box!  Now that's thinking outside the box, hey.
Now isn't this camp scene just too cute?!  The talent of some of the demonstrators is just amazing!
Here is a cute display of paper cupcakes.  WOW!
And last but not least, is a typewriter made out of card stock, another one that just is awesome!

Now remember, you can click on the pictures to enlarge the pictures so you can get a closer look at all of these wonderful creations!

I hope you all have a wonderful week-end and hopefully I can get into the craft room to make some cards and hopefully be all caught up on my sleep too!   Mary

A Few of My New Friends!

I thought I would share a picture of a few of my friends...

Stampin' Up! Convention blog_july13_convention_11
all 5,800 of them!!  Can you believe this!  This was the mass of demonstrators coming out of one of the general sessions!  Now normally there are not this many demonstrators at convention, but since this year was the 25th anniversary, alot more came to celebrate this milestone with Stampin' Up!

Convention 2013

This year when Stampin' Up! sent out e-mails asking for demonstrators to be Make & Take helpers, I applied and was selected!  It was so much fun and a very easy assignment to do to, I really enjoyed being able to help other demos with questions or replacing supplies that they may have needed.  This is the badge that they made for us to wear while in the Make & Take area.
I also went to the Mini Make & Take and this cute little jar was sitting on the table holding supplies, the bow die will be available in the upcoming Holiday catalog, starting August 1st, there are two sizes that you can use to make this bow too.  Here it is made with the Silver Glimmer paper.  Since the class I was in was the last one for convention, they told us we could take the bows with us, lucky me!  It is so cute.
Next up is a picture of the convention bag that we got at opening session.  It was filled with our Make & Takes, stamp sets, our mini Make & Take, an MDS card and a few other goodies too!  All I can say is WOW!  These back packs are very well made and have plenty of storage too!

I will be back tomorrow with more pictures to share with all of you, until then have a great day!  Mary

Being a Tourist in Salt Lake City, Utah

Today I thought I would share a couple of pictures from downtown Salt Lake City.

The first one is a picture of The Beehive House, isn't it pretty?  The second picture are how the grounds are planted around the temple area.  They are so beautiful, even in the summer heat.  While it does get hot there during the day, when early evening comes it is so nice, the heat just seems to disappear and it is so nice to be out and about.

If you ever have the chance to go to Salt Lake I would highly recommend it, it is a very nice city to visit.

More pictures tomorrow.  Mary

Simply Sketched Bird

Today I will share with you one last card using the Simply Sketched stamp set.  This is one of three images that come with the set.  Here I made it into a sympathy card, I need to make some to have on hand just in case I would need one.  There is also a Thank You sentiment include too, so you can see that you can create many different types of cards with this set.  If you click on the picture and look at the background, you will see the third image also.  I used Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake and Soft Suede card stock.  For the image and sentiment I used Soft Suede ink.  I sponged the edges with Soft Suede and at the bottom, Always Artichoke.  I used my blender pen to lightly color the image in with.  I took my paper piercing tool and punched some holes in the top left-hand corner to add interest and wrapped some Linen Thread around the piece of card stock, tying a know to hold it together.  I popped that up with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Once I figured out what I wanted to do, the card came together quickly.

I hope you all are having a nice day and will also have a great week-end too.    Mary

Secret Garden Meets Washi Tape

Today I want to share with you a card that I made the other day, it uses the Secret Garden stamp set and the matching framelits.  It makes this card come together really fast too!  For the sentiment I used one from the hostess set, Simply Sketched, I really like that set too!  As you can see, I used the new washi tape that is in the new catalog, Gingham Garden Designer Washi Tape.  The colors I used for the stamp pieces, Island Indigo, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Pear Pizzazz.  Card stock is Whisper White and Daffodil Delight.  I added some Rhinestones to the center of each flower.  This card should not require any extra postage either!

Thanks for dropping in to see my card!   Mary

Simply Sketched

Hi everyone I hope you had a nice week-end and ready for the new week too!  I got to play in the craftroom on the fourth of July and made this card.  Oh I wish you could see this in person, it is so soft and pretty!  I do notice, though, that my sentiment is off just a tad, but that is what makes it homemade, right?!

I used the new hostess set in the catalog called Simply Sketched, the first time I saw a card made with this stamp, I knew I had to have it, it's really a nice set too!  I stamped the image with Black Stazon ink on Whisper White card stock and used my markers and blender pen to color the image in with.  The blue around the image was applied with my aqua painter and the new Soft Sky to help "ground" the image and to stand off the white background more.  Add a Doily cut in half behind, applied a few pearls and a rhinestone.  The purple flower is made with the new Simply Pressed Clay and forms, painted with Wisteria Wonder ink and the Aqua Painter.  Card stock is also Wisteria Wonder.  I embossed the background with the Fancy Fan embossing folder.  The ribbon is brand new 3/4" Chevron Ribbon also in Wisteria Wonder.  Now I usually surf the net and find different demonstrators doing paper, ribbon, embellishment shares, that is how I purchase some of my stuff, I don't really use alot of these to justify buying a whole package of say Designer Series Paper, so I participate in these shares myself and that way I get to see and feel and use alot of the new things in the catalog, heck I still have paper from a paper share that was a couple years ago!  I like it but just don't use it a lot, but I'm trying too get it used up!

I was inspired by this card HERE.

I hope you enjoyed seeing the card I shared with you today and feel inspired to do some "coloring" and stamping too!   Mary

On Your Birthday

Hi everyone!  Well this week is almost over and hopefully we have all survived the recent fourth of July holiday.  I had a very quite one, well, as quite as it can be anyway on this noisy holiday!  The card above is a card that I recently from my friend, Anne Venci.  She is one of three demonstrators that I swap with each month and this card is one that she sent to me, I love it!  So I wanted to try my hand at using her card as a template for my card below.
I like how bright and cheery mine turned out.  I made mine into a birthday card and I used the Floral Fusion Sizzlits, held together with a 1/8" Mini Brad, instead of the Bitty Butterfly punch, Anne used a Large Pearl Basic Jewel for the center of her butterfly.  The Whisper White scalloped square is made using the 1 1/2" Scallop Square punch (retired) and the squares behind that are just cut at 1 1/2" x 1 1/2", very easy.  I measured down 3" and ran my Whisper White card stock thru the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder.  Anne used Loving Thoughts for her sentiment.  Anne used Tempting Turquoise, Real Red and Old Olive, I used Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise and Daffodil Delight (I found this color combo from my Color Coach).

Well there you go, see how easy it is to use the same idea and layout and make two different cards, I hope you give it a try!  Mary

My Fourth of July Card

Happy Fourth of July, a day earlier, that is!  I know alot of you will be busy with family and friends tomorrow, so I wanted to wish you a great day!

Here is a card that I copied from one I found on Pinterest HERE.  This lady came up with the brilliant idea to use her Bitty Banners Framelits to make the white stripes for the flag!  Genius!  I did the background on mine with the Stripes Embossing Folder, she used a different one.  I used the retired Star punch for the big star using Whisper White and the new Designer Series Paper stack paper (Midnight Muse), love the new designs on this too!  The smaller stars were punched out using the Merry Minis Punch Pack, 126882, which is still available.  I used the Ticket punch for my banner and used Loving Thoughts for the sentiment.  Card stock is Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler and Midnight Muse, using Midnight Muse ink.

Well this is my share for the day and have a good celebration tomorrow too!  Mary

Reason to Smile

Good day to everyone, sorry about no cards last week, but I was very busy working, no time to play.  This week should be better!  Is everyone ready for the upcoming holiday?  Hubby has to work, so I'll be home with the fur kids, keeping them save and sound from all the noise.

Today I'm sharing alot of retired products, so lets get started.  Now my Whisper White 5/8" satin ribbon I colored with my Tempting Turquoise marker, it doesn't look like that color in this picture does it, oh well I wonder why, maybe I applied too much ink?  The stamp set is a set called Reason to Smile and I think it makes a cute card.  I don't have the new In Colors except for the Pistachio Pudding, so I went with what I have, it's so bright and cheery, hopefully the person who receives it will be cheered up seeing it!  Oh the sentiment is from a set called Sincere Salutations, I really like that set too.  I also used the retired square punches, 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" ones, using those punches makes those squares super quick to make too.  Now if you look behind the squares, you'll see I used the Adorning Accents embossing folder, that one is current!  Also current is the card stock, Whisper White and Tempting Turquoise.

Well, off to make some more cards, trying to make them as the ideas pop into my head so I don't forget, Mary
