Truly Grateful

Hi everyone, I hope you had a great week-end.  It has turned cold here in the mid-west, but will warm up again later in the week.  Good day for chili, yum!

Well on Saturday, it was world card making day and I just had to make a card.  So late Saturday night I went into the craft room and using some of my new toys created a card.  It's very simple, because I didn't want to stay up to late playing.  Here is what I created....

I entered it in the contest that Stampin' Up! was hosting.  I used the new Expression Thinlits to create the "thankful" for the front using Always Artichoke card stock.  I used some Tombow multi-purpose glue to adhere it to the 1-1/4" Burlap ribbon.  Then I stamped my image with Crumb Cake ink onto a Very Vanilla card base.  While I had it laying on the table, I felt it need some color, so I took some scrap card stock, Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler and Pumpkin Pie, and hand cut some small flags for the bottom of the ribbon.  There, just the right amount of color.  Oh, I also sponged the card base edges with Crumb Cake.  You could easily take this idea and step it up a notch, hmm, I may just have to do that, you may be seeing more of this card in the future!

I hope you have a great day and just a reminder, the LNS Treasure Hunt Fall 2013 has less than 20 days and then a winner will be drawn from those who entered.  Mary

Perfect Blend

Good Friday morning to all of you, I hope you are having a great day today.  Mine will be busy with doing chores around the house and getting started on the baby shower invites.
My daughter wanted a coffee gift card holder, so I made this one for her to use.  It is using the stamp set called Perfect Blend.  It's been a very popular stamp set with many stampers since it came out in June of this year.  I think the coffee cup is really cute and you can make it so many different ways too.

For the holder part of it, I used the card base Pop 'n Cut, you can get two holders out of one sheet of 8 1/2 by 11 inch card stock.  Here I used Crumb Cake and using Crumb Cake ink and the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set, I used the splotch to make it look like coffee had spilled on it.  For the cup, I stamped once on Very Vanilla, for lid, once on Crumb Cake for the sleeve and once on a scrap piece of Season of Style Designer Series Paper.  Hand cut out all of the pieces, I did put the DSP and the lid onto another full stamped coffee cup, because I wanted it to be more sturdy  I used some Linen Thread to tie around the sleeve to add some interest.  Used some Cherry Cobbler and more Crumb Cake to make a flag and stamped the sentiment on it.

For the inside, I used more of the Season of Style DSP and Cherry Cobbler.  Stamped the sentiment on a scrap of Very Vanilla and distressed the edges after punching it out with the Artisan Label punch.  I used the Word Window punch to punch out where the gift card would slide into.  I found the measurements for this card HERE.

This is all for today, I hope you have a fun week-end too!  Mary

Baby Invitation Number Two

.

Good Wednesday to all of you!  Well the heat is back, again, in our part of the world.  I really enjoyed the cooler weather that we had over the week-end and wish it would return too.

Today I want to share with you another baby invitation for my daughter.  She is hosting a shower for her sister-in-law in November (love that girl, she's giving me plenty of time to make them!).  I used retired Bashful Blue, but you could easily use Soft Sky for the Onesie too.  I hunted through all of my stamps and could not find a Stampin' Up! stamp to use for the little detail on the front, so I used a Fiskar stamp that is part of a large set, so that is what I used.  Looking at it here on the screen, I think some kind of embossing would really add to the onesie too.  What do you think?  The neck opening was punched with the 1 3/8" circle punch, and the scalloped trim was punched with the 1 3/4" scalloped circle punch, you could use the Circle Framelits, if you have those.  The leg openings were punched with the Large Oval punch and the Whisper White scallop on the leg openings was punched with the Scallop Oval.  I used the same punches for the little elephant too.  For the snaps, all I had was silver glimmer paper, so I used a hole punch to make those.  Really a fairly easy card to make and oh so cute in person too!.

I found the template for the Onesie HERE.

Well, that is all for now, see you again soon!  Mry
