Wicked Cool

Hi everyone!  I bet you thought I forgot all about Halloween this year didn't you.  Nope, I didn't forget. I just don't have the need for a lot of Halloween cards, but I do enjoy the holiday.  I miss the girls being little, it was more fun for me then.  Hubby and I surprised all the little goblins that came to our house last year.  Hubby said that just one time he wanted to hand out full size candy bars, so we did.  It was fun to see and hear the kids after they received their treat too!  We found pre-packaged full size candy bars at Wal-Mart, 18 in a box for $10.87, which we thought was a good deal and we only have about thirty trick-or-treaters come around.  So when the candy runs out, the lights go off.

Ok, now onto the card…

I decided to use this retired stamp set, Wicked Cool.  I've seen so many neat cards with it, so I decided to try my hand at making one too.  Since I don't have any Halloween Designer Series Paper, I went with the Spider Web embossing folder (retired) onto a piece of Perfect Plum card stock, then I sponged on some Basic Black ink to bring out the web some.  I stamped the images with Black Stazon ink onto Whisper White card stock and punched those out with 1-3/8" square punch.  Mounted those on some Basic Black card stock.  Stamped the sentiment on a piece of Old Olive card stock and punched it out with the Decorative Label punch and sponged the edges.  I also used Old Olive Scallop Dots ribbon (retired) along the bottom.  Added a few colored Basic Rhinestones on each side of the sentiment.  I used a blender pen to add color to the hat band and the witches stockings.

Well I hope you are having a good week, it's raining here, which we need, but it is cold too, good day for soup!   Mary

Another Envelope Punch Board Candy Holder

Surprise!  I've been having a lot of fun playing and making candy holders with my envelope punch board.  Got to make them while I have some candy in the house, lol!

This one holds a full size candy bar and you can use it for any occasion you would need one for.  I made this one after watching this video HERE.  After watching her video, I was able to whip one of these out in no time, she is a good teacher!

This time I did stamp on the box before I put it together.  I used the retired Spooky Bingo Bits (sad face here) with Illuminate Glimmer Watermark Stamp pad.  Then I used some leftover Pumpkin Pie Seam Binding from the Halloween Banner Kit.  I use my Postage Stamp, 1" square and Mini Curly Label (retired) punches for the sentiment.  Very easy and cute too!

Well off to play some more, see you again tomorrow!  Mary

Envelope Punch Board Candy Holder

Hi everyone, I hope you all have been doing well, we are all fine at our house and hubby is tired but happy to be back at his part-time job.

Today I want to share with you a project that I found in my in box one day.  It's a cute, inexpensive idea that you can give to just about anyone on your Christmas list, or anytime of the year, and best of all you can easily make it for under $5.00!  Yup, under $5.00.  I got my candy bar at Wal-Mart for $1.48 for a 4.4 ounce bar.  If you already have some 12" x 12" card stock or Designer Series paper on hand, then you are ready for this project.  Oh wait, you do need to have the envelope punch board though to make these with.  Now I'm going to be honest here, when I tried this at Convention in July I was not impressed with it!  I'm thinking, "why do I want to use my paper to make envelopes" and I did have a learning curve with it too.  But when I saw some of the many different items some people were making with it, I was thinking, "maybe", but when I saw this video HERE, I just had to get one because I like to make items like this!

I did use the Gift Bow Die to it, but you could finish the front anyway you would like, ribbon would work with this really nicely!  After I finished it, I thought I could run the strip of DSP up and down and save more paper that way to (or ribbon).  You could stamp on the front, image that, lol!  So just let your imagination go and you'll come up with some really good ideas too!  Now I'm trying to figure out how to make one for the 7 ounce size bar!

Thank you for dropping in to see me and just a reminder, today is the last day for the 25% off stamp sale.  Mary

Envelope Liner Framelits Boxes

Good Friday too all of you!  I hope your week went well and that you have a nice relaxing week-end planned, mine will be just the dogs and I, hubby is well enough to go back to his part-time job, so he will be working.  He is ever so glad to be going back to work too, he was getting so bored being at home all day.  Now me, I don't ever have a problem being bored at home, I can always find something to do around here.

Today I want to share with you three boxes that I made with the Envelope Liner Framelits that Stampin' Up! sells.  A fellow demo, Angie Kennedy Juda, sends out each year, the 12 weeks of Christmas and last week her idea was for boxes using these framelits.  They are really not hard to make at all and depending on which frame lit you use, will determine the size you want.

The first one uses the smallest frame lit, it is used to line a small envelope, it measures 3-1/8" x 3-1/8".   The finished box measures, 2-3/8" x 2-3/8" x 3".  I used a Sizzix bow die that I've have had for some years and I found it HERE.  Stamp set used here is That's the Ticket and I used the Ticket punch too with some Linen Thread.

The next box uses the middle frame lit, it is used to line the Note Cards envelopes from SU!, it measures 5-1/8" x 3-5/8".  The finished box measures 4-1/4" x 4-1/4" x 2-15/16".  I used the Gift Bow die from SU and Silver Glimmer paper, along with the Tags 4 You, VersaMark ink, Silver embossing powder and Silver 1/8" Ribbon.

The last box uses the largest frame lit, it is used to line the Medium envelopes SU sell, it measures 5-3/4" x 4-3/8".  The finished box measures 4-3/4" x 4-3/4" x 4".  I also used the Gift Bow die from SU for it too.  It doesn't look like it in the pictures, but it is a nice size.

The card stock and Designer Series Paper where some that I won for free at Convention in July, so I was happy to be able to try this idea and use some of it too.

DSP-Season of Style and Polka Dot Parade
Card stock-Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Old Olive
Silver Glimmer paper
Cherry Cobbler ink

Now my boxes are finished off very simply, but I did want you to see how you can use these envelope framelits in another way.  You can decorate them with whatever you can image!

I hope you have enjoyed my 3-D's this week, I have to come up with some more ideas, maybe with the envelope punch board!?

Just a reminder, today is the last day of the LNS Treasure Hunt Fall 2013 to submit your entry.  Winner will be announced on October 28th.

Hope to see you Monday, have a great day and a great week-end too.  Mary

Baby Bottles Using Perfectly Preserved

Well, here we are again, I'm so glad that you decided to drop by to see my next 3-D project today.  I think this one turned out really well!

Yes, I know I'm using retired product, but this set with the matching framelits is so cute and I just had to give this a try after seeing it HERE.  You can watch a VIDEO to see how to put these together.

How cute is this?!?  Perfect shower favors.  I used four Hershey's Nuggets wrapped in 1" x 3" strips of retired DSP.  The ribbon is also retired, as is the stamp set Ciao, Baby.  Once you have your pieces cut out, these go together pretty quick.

Thanks for stopping in!  Mary

Kraft Gift Box with the Gift Bow Die

Hi everyone, I hope you all are enjoying this nice cool weather, it's been sunny and cool here, just in time for Halloween!

This week I thought I would share some 3-D items with all of you.  It's been awhile and with everyone soon needing gift wrapping ideas I thought I would share one today.  You can find these Kraft Gift Boxes on page 160 of the big catalog and you get 4 boxes for $2.95, which is not a bad deal!  They are made with a food-safe material, so you can put some home made goodies in them!  They measure 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" x 2-1/2 ".  You could also put a small candle in there or a small wheel of cheese.

After looking at this picture, my little box looks pretty sad :(.  I should have use some DSP on the sides and top.  You can't see it, but I do have a strip on the side to make it look like it's tied shut, but you can easily open the box and leave the bow intact too.  I stamped the sides with VersaMark ink and some round circles, I wish I had some gold or silver ink pads, that would look really nice on here too!  Oh well, see not every craft project we make is great, but I would still use this box.  I made the bow with the new Gift Bow Die that is available in the current holiday catalog.  The one shown is the big bow, just by leaving the top two pieces off or the bottom two pieces, will give your bow a completely different look or size.  One demo used the bow pieces to make a small wreath with in the glimmer paper, very pretty!

Well, I hope you have a great day and hopefully my next project will be a winner!!  Mary

Sunflower

Hi everyone, so sorry to be so late but was to tired yesterday to get my post ready for today.

Now you saw a card similar to this one on my blog on Monday.  I had an extra stamped image laying on my work table and thought I would go ahead and make another card with it.  I did change it just a bit, instead of the burlap ribbon I used the Linen Thread and my retired Jewelry tag punch.  As you can see, I got a little bit carried away with the spritzer, but that's alright too.

The weather is rainy here today, so not the best of lighting for a picture, but I think you can still see it.  Well this is my share for today, maybe I can get myself in gear and come up with more things to share next week, see you then.  Mary

LNS Treasure Hunt Fall 2013  not too much longer and the treasure hunt will end.

Gift Card Holder

Hi to all of you.  Today I want to share a gift card holder with you.  With Christmas fast approaching, I know I'm one that will need quite a few for those holiday gifts.  Actually, with just the change of paper and sentiment, you can use them for any special occasion that you need one for.

With this one, I once again, used the Pop 'n Cut die for the base.  Made score lines at 1", 3-1/2" and 8", fold the first score line towards you, the second one away from you and the last one towards you.  Run a piece of Sticky Strip on each side to form the pocket.   I put the curved part of the base in the upper left-hand corner of my Simply Score tool.  Next I cut one piece of Winter Frost Specialty Designer Series paper at 2" x 4", and one piece of Silver Glimmer paper at 2" x 4".  Before I adhered the glimmer paper down, I use some VersaMark and a retired snowflake stamp and stamped to add a little bit of interest to the Pool Party card stock.  I found my retired Northern Frost Snowflake strip and cut out three snowflakes, one in Silver Glimmer paper, one in Pool Party and one in Bermuda Bay card stock.  I made the banner with the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set and Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set for the sentiment.  The Bitty Banners Framelits were used to cut it out, but you could easily hand cut a banner too.

There you go, it really is an easy one to make after the first one.  I hope you all have a wonderful day and will see you again soon.  Mary

Improved Online Shopping Experience

ENJOY AN IMPROVED ONLINE SHOPPING EXPERIENCE

October 14, 2013
Good news! On October 15 at 10:00 AM (MT) we'll be enhancing our ordering features for our online customers. Here are the new benefits:
  • All orders will now go through a demonstrator. You're important to us, so we want all of the work we're doing to spread the word about Stampin' Up! to bring rewards for you. (If your customer has already selected you as her demonstrator, she won't have to repeat the process.)
  • No more preferred pricing. Having two prices for each item confused customers, so we've simplified the process.
  • Guest checkout. Customers who do not want to commit to creating an account will no longer be deterred from ordering. They can now check out as a guest. These customers are still required to select a demonstrator and they can select whether to pass on their contact information to you.
  • New features for our shopping bag. Customers can now easily save bag contents. Also, when adding items to your bag, you can choose to go directly to the bag or continue shopping. We've also included a progress bar to guide customers through the ordering process.
  • Enjoy more images. You asked for it--you got it. Additional product images are bigger and easier to view.
  • Enhanced sorting. Now you can sort merchandise based on newest or oldest--a real plus when you want to see the latest MDS downloads.
  • Sale prices are clearly marked. Items on sale are clearly marked without having to add them to your bag (as shown below). You can also sort products by the sales price (instead of according to the original price).
  • Hostess code issues will prompt action. For instance, customers will be prompted if they enter a new hostess code after returning to a saved shopping bag that already had a hostess code present.
And here's what customers will see if they enter a hostess code that is no longer valid.
  • Contact preferences. Customers will be able to state whether they want to be contacted (by us or by a demonstrator) or not. (See the check box at the bottom of the screenshot below.)
How does this benefit you? It helps us reach the few customers who will avoid placing an order because they don't want to be contacted by anyone. You'll be able to spot these types of orders in your order history; the words "no contact" will appear in the hostess and shipping information fields.
Keep in mind that the online training may still refer to the previous ordering system. We will update the site to eliminate any outdated references. In the meantime, share the news with your customers and enjoy the new system!
