Lovely As A Tree

Well, good Wednesday morning to you my friends!  I hope you have a nice day planned, mine will be spent making cards for a auction for the assisted living facility where my daughter works.  All money made will be given to the Alzheimer's Association.  I have a few made already and I must keep in mind that they will need to be simple so as not to require any extra postage too.  Hmmm, I may have to make this one for them!

This card is one that I made for my husband to send to a former co-worker of his.  Sadly the man's wife passed away last week because of cancer.  Since it was for a man being given by a man, I wanted it to look masculine too.

On this one I used the painter's tape technique, you are asking "what is that"?  Well you take a piece of  blue painter's tape, long enough to go across your card front, then lay it across your ink pad (sticky side down) and lightly press the tape onto the ink pad, then take the inked up tape and lay it on your card stock and lightly press the tape to transfer the ink onto your card stock. Very simple and no two cards will be alike either.  When done, then stamp your image on top of your stripes.  Done!  Simple and quick.

Here is what I used:

Stamp sets: Lovely As A Tree and So Sorry (both sets are a must have)
Ink: Early Espresso, Soft Sky and Pear Pizzazz
Card stock: Whisper White, Soft Sky and Early Espresso
Linen Thread
Blue Painter's tape

Why not give this technique a try, I bet you will like it too!    Mary

Love and Sympathy, Remake

Hi to all of you!  I hope you have been going around to all of the blogs who are participating in the LNS Treasure Hunt Fall 2013.  You know anyone can play and as more demonstrators sign on the prize will increase in size too!  You can see the list of blogs HERE.

Now onto my cards for today.  I did a card like this back in July of 2012, you can see it HERE.  I decided to update it with two of the new colors, Soft Sky and Blushing Bride.  My daughter called me on Friday and requested a sympathy card for herself, one of her friends lost her mother.  So I pulled out this stamp set because I like how simple it is and for its beautiful sentiment for the inside.

I used every stamp that is in this set for this card, it really is a good value and I like how the inks and card stocks all go together so well!  The Designer Series paper is from the new paper stacks that Stampin' Up! updated this year, love the patterns that are in each stack.  I used the Decorative Label and Dotted Scallop Ribbon punches.  Then I added a few pearls to dress it up some, I love how soft and pretty they turned out.

Wednesday I will share a man's sympathy card with you, my husband's former co-worker's wife passed away last week also, so he needs one.

Thanks for stopping in to see me, I appreciate it so much!  Mary

Owl Builder Punch Wedding Card

Well my post is late today, as I was busy making this card for my daughter.  She requested a cowboy wedding card.

Well the first thing that came to my mind was the owl from the Owl Builder punch.  So I was off and running with this idea.  The hats are made with a small oval punch that I believe is retired, that is why I always keep my punches, even if they retire, they come in too handy for punch art.  The top part of the hat is just free-handed.  I had have some retired designer series paper from Christmas last year, so that is what I used for the vest and the blue background is also from a stack of retired paper (it came cut like this) from last year too, thank goodness it is double-sided!  The leaves are from the Bird Builder punch.  Netting is some that I've had laying in the craft closet, always a good place to shop first!  The bow tie is two hearts and small circle from the Owl Builder punch, owl's wings are from the Bird Builder punch, branches are also from the Bird Builder punch too.  I ran the "wedding dress" through the Fancy fan embossing folder and the Crumb Cake card stock is embossed with the Woodgrain folder.  Sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes mounted on the Word Window punch and then onto the Modern Label punch.  Pearls were add and also to the brides white hat.  Card base is Very Vanilla.

Whew, there is my card share for the day, I hope you enjoy it.  My daughter saw it and said how cute it is too, so that is good!  Have a great week-end and don't forget to play along with the LNS Treasure Hunt, the prize keeps growing as some more demonstrations join in and yes, the list is up-to-date too!  Mary

Loads of Fun

Well here is my card for today.  Now you are all probably scratching your head and wondering why I'm posting this card again.  Well this is just slightly different than the card I posted HERE.  Well this card is for a young boy, 8, who recently had open heart surgery and needed some get well wishes.  It was stated that he liked camping, so I knew this stamp set would fill the bill for a cute card for him!  What do you think?
I think the little guy will like it!  The stamp set is retired.  On this card I used the Woodgrain embossing folder to give it a more outdoors feel.  Also added some Linen Thread, just because.

Thanks for stopping by, see you on Friday!  Mary

Halloween Chiclets Holder

Hi and good Monday morning too all of you.  I hope your week-end went well for you.  Mine was quite, hubby was working, so it was just the dogs and me, just hanging out.  Yes, they like to come to the craft room and help me with my projects too.  I have to be careful because my chair is on rollers and I don't want to roll over any ears, tails or paws!

This cute idea came into my inbox of e-mails one day.  On the inside is a package of Chiclets chewing gum.  I was able to find these at Big Lots! here in Kansas City, a package was $1.00 and each package has 6 boxes in, so these would make cute items to hand out to the little monsters whom will be coming sooner than we think!  HERE is the link to the original project.  After seeing mine, I see I did do mine just a tad different (belly band), but you could do them however it works for you!
Here is what the inside looks like.  I don't have any Halloween Designer Series paper, so I just used the Positively Chevron background stamp.  You could really use any Halloween stamp and make your own paper too or emboss the top with your favorite embossing folder.

Products used:

Stamp sets: Booglie Eyes, Googly Ghouls (both retired) and Positively Chevron
Card stock: Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White and More Mustard, retired
Inks: Early Espresso, Elegant Eggplant, Basic Gray and Black StazOn
Punches: Word Window, Decorative Label and Modern Label
Red Tape
Googlies
Blender Pen
Sponge
Dimensionals

Well, this is my share for today, these would make cute gifts at Halloween for teachers to give to their students, if they do that kind of thing now, I don't know?

Have a great day, Mary

Single Holiday Stamps

Stampin Up Need a Single Holiday Stamp?

Flower Shop

Hi to all of you.  Well here we are at mid week already, I hope you are all have a good week too.

Todays share is a new stamp set called Flower Shop.  As you can see it comes with a coordinating punch called Pansy, these two items can be purchased as a bundle, saving you 15%.  I really like punches.  These bright colors are for my friend Linda.  She likes bright ones so I used Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Tempting Turquoise.  I found these colors in my Color Coach, something I turn too a lot when I don't know if certain colors will go together.  The ribbon on the bottom is Melon Mambo, which is retired and the top ribbon, 3/8" stitched satin, is Primrose Petals.  I figured I need to start using some of my retired stuff up!  Oh, I did stamp with Pistachio Pudding with the Flower Shop flower under the punched out flowers too add some green.  Card stock is Whisper White and Melon Mambo.  I added a Basic Pearl to the center of each flower, but you could use a rhinestone too.
Sentiment is from the hostess set, Simply Sketched.  Really a easy card.  I saw a card like this at convention, but don't know who's it is.

Have a wonderful day, Mary.

Create A Cupcake

Well hello everyone, how did your week-end go?  Ours was very nice and the weather was beautiful for August too!

Today I'm going to share with you another birthday card, it sure is nice to have some made up and ready for those birthdays that need a card Now!

This is a card that I made to give to my son-in-law, I hope he doesn't think it's too childish for him, maybe the cash inside will help!  I used a long neglected stamp set called, Create A Cupcake and the Cupcake Builder punch.  It has been awhile since I've used both of these and decided to give it a go.
I also decided to show you the inside too, as I like how it turned out.  What do you think?  Since flags are all the rage right now, I decided to add those too.

Card stock: Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise and Pear Pizzazz
Ink: Tempting Turquoise, Real Red and Daffodil Delight
Black StazOn ink
Silver, Red and Champagne Glimmer paper
Square Lattice embossing folder

This is my card for today, please come back and visit me again soon,  Mary

Hello, Lovely

Happy Friday to all, the week-end is finally here!

I would like to share with you today the thank you card that I made to send to Andrea Withers, she was our contact point at Stampin' Up! and at convention for the Make & Take helpers.  I wanted to send her a card and let her know how much fun I had and how much I appreciated being picked too!  Now the card above was taken before I added a couple of rhinestones to it, so it does look pretty plain, but you sure could add pearls and rhinestones to dress it up.

Stamp set: Hello, Lovely and Gorgeous Grunge
Ink: Pink Pirouette and Tempting Turquoise
Card stock: Pink Pirouette, Temping Turquoise and Whisper White
Embossing Folder: Modern Mosaic

Very simple and quick, have a great day too!  Mary

Tag a Bag Gift Box

Well here we are again with our last convention Make & Take share.  I really like this one because it does make a very nice gift box for really any occasion.  You can even get two mini Yankee candles in this box, sweet!  I will admit that when I saw these in the catalog, it was ho-hum, but after making one, I've changed my mind and will be ordering some of these to have on hand for quick gift wrapping.  They also have the boxes, bags and accessories available in bundle pricing on page 159 of the catalog, which saves you 15%!

These boxes come with a kraft bottom and the acetate sleeve.  They are food-safe.  Each box measures, 6-7/8" x 2-1/8" x 2-1/2".  They come 8 to a  package for $6.95, #130927.  For our make & takes they added the piece of card stock to cover the gift that is inside.  That piece measures: 4-3/8" x 6-7/8", score  1" x 3-3/8", round the corners.  Then you can stamp whatever you would like, the stamp sets we used is Hello, Lovely and Gorgeous Grunge.  For making the feathers, I have taken a picture (click on picture to enlarge) of the instructions that were included with our supplies.  The closer you make your snips, the finer the feathers will be.  The ribbon is cut at 24" long and just tied around the box.
This is the last of the Make & Takes, I hope you have enjoyed seeing the different projects and feel inspired to try one or two of your own.  If you have any questions, just leave a comment and I'll try to answer them!  Have a great day.   Mary

Tag a Bag Gift Bag

Good Wednesday to all of my friends, I hope your day is off to a wonderful start too.

Today I want to share another Make & Take that was in our convention bags.  This one uses a gift bag that you score, vertically, on both sides at one inch and then score horizontally from the bottom at 1 1/4 inch.  Be sure to cut just about 1/16th off of the bottom of the bag, you got to be able to open it!  Then snip up to the 1 1/4 inch mark.  Now fold on all of the score lines.  Take the bottom and fold in to make a flat bottom, secure the bottom with some Washi tape.  Now for mine, I cut a small piece of chipboard,  and placed it on the inside bottom to give it alittle bit more strength.  We also received the Tag a Bag Accessory Kit, it includes the punch out tags, baker's twine, mini clothespins (boy are they tiny too).  Then you can use whatever ribbon you would like.  The stamp set we used is Tag It set, it is the current Ronald McDonald House stamp set and for every set sold, Stampin' Up! donates $3.00 to the charity!  Win, win for everyone!  Makers used where, Calypso Coral and Coastal Cabana.

8/20/3013  UPDATE:  I found a video that explains how to do this HERE
This is a small gift bag.  I hope you are liking my convention shares, tomorrow will be the last one.  Mary

Hi to all today!  Well I had some time on Sunday to finish the rest of my Make & Takes, so will be sharing those with you this week.

Here is the Gift Bag that holds the note cards that I showed you HERE.

Products used:
Hello, Lovely Stamp set

3/4" Calypso Coral Chevron ribbon, 2"

Same Card, Different Colors

Hi everyone, I hope your day is going well.

Today I want to share a re-make of this card HERE.  The original card I made I used the traditional baby colors on it, so I told my daughter I wanted to make another card using the colors that were on the shower invitation, which I translated to Stampin' Up! colors, Calypso Coral, Smoky Slate and Pink Pirouette (I bet Blushing Bride would look good too) on Whisper White.  Now I don't have Calypso Coral ribbon, so I used the new Strawberry Slush 3/8" Ruffle Stretch Trim behind the Pink Pirouette card stock strip.  You know what, after I was done making the card and using this color combo, I have to say that I really like it!  Of course, the card is much cuter in real life.

So as you can see, sometimes it is good to get out of our comfort zone and think outside of the box, give it a try, you just might be surprised at the results too, like I was!   Mary

Make and Takes, #2

Today I thought I would share another make and take and also one of the mini make and takes.
This first picture is of the mini make and take.  It uses the mini muslin bags in the new Holiday catalog and it is on page 36.  You get 8 bags for $9.95, which makes a cute inexpensive quick gift to stamp and give to someone fill with some kind of goody.
The next one is of five note cards that we got to stamp at the make and take area.  The note cards that SU sell are very nice and I like to keep a package of them on hand for a quick note, you get 20 for $5.95.  They gave us a Tag a Bag Gift bag (I haven't finished my bag, I still need to decorate it) to place our finished note cards in, also a nice gift to give to someone too.  I didn't show the envelopes in the picture.  Ink colors are: Old Olive, Crisp Cantaloupe, Bermuda Bay, Costal Cabana.  Stamp set is Hello, Lovely.

I don't know why my pictures are yellow/green at the bottom, I think the leaves on the tree outside was reflecting back into the house.

I hope you all have a great week-end, see you on Monday!  Mary
