Dragonfly Dreams

I needed a birthday card for my friend, Linda, and decided to try my hand using the Dragonfly Dreams and Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits for her card.  It's ok, her birthday was yesterday, so she should have received her card by now.

Linda likes the rich, dark colors of green, so I decided to use some of my retired DSP, Botanical Gardens from last year.  I also wanted to use some Gold Foil so that the Dragonfly would stand out from the background.  Here is what I came up with.

I think she will really like it too.  I used a piece of Gold Foil paper large enough to cut out the Dragonfly and then used that piece to mount my DSP on, little to no waste that way too!  I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set, Dragonfly Dreams, that coordinates with the Thinlits, using Black Memento ink.  I also made a black dragonfly and mounted that on the inside with a small strip of Gold Foil and DSP.  I stamped, "Enjoy your special day!"  The card base is Very Vanilla, as that is what is in the DSP.

Lift Me Up

I was needing some Thank You cards for a couple of Online orders that were placed with me.  So I decided to make some Birthday cards and I wrote a note on a post-it note so the ladies can send these cards, if they choose too.  I wanted to get them done quickly, so I CASE'd the Occasions Catalog, on page 10.  Makes it so easy to use what Stampin' Up! shares with it demonstrators!!

I followed it except I stamped the sentiment, "Hope your day is on cloud nine.  Happy Birthday" on the inside.  Here is what I used:

Inks: Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy, Delightful Dijon, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Pool Party

I stamped and cut the balloons and clouds out one night and assembled all three cards the next day.  I really like how they turned out and easy to mail too!!

Yummy in My Tummy, Take #3

Good Monday to all of you, I hope you had a fabulous week-end.  I spend the day yesterday working on getting things together so next month I can have my Dad's taxes done.  I also made a couple more Valentine cards, for me to send to my daughters, too.  May make some to send to a few others, will see how that goes!

Here is the last card that I made with the cute monsters, Yummy in My Tummy for Wesley's daycare teachers!  I think they look like something a little boy would give!  I used my Watercolor pencils to color in the monster and ink pads and sponges to color the background with, Soft Sky and Pear Pizzazz.  I used the Sweetheart punch and some Blushing Bride Glimmer paper for the heart.  The baker's twine was some left-over from a past Paper Pumpkin kit.  The sentiment is also from a past Paper Pumpkin kit.  I hope the teachers like their cards this year!

I'll take a break from Valentine's for a week and show you some other cards that I made.

Yummy in My Tummy, Take #2

Today I want to share the second card that I made using the Yummy in My Tummy stamp set, that little monster is so cute and I think they both would make cute Valentine's for kids to hand out to classmates.

For this card I used a retired heart punch to have the monster holding a string of hearts.  I also colored the monster in with the new Watercolor pencils and a blender pen.  I also lightly sponged the background with Soft Sky.

The cute little stamp in his tummy is from a past Paper Pumpkin set.  The Baker's twine is from the past Holiday catalog.  Card stock is Whisper White and Real Read.  Ink is Black Memento ink.

Happy Wednesday to all!  Well, we are finally on the mend at our house.  I hope all of you are staying well and healthy.

Today I'm going to share a Valentine shaker card that I made for one of the daycare teachers.  It is my first shaker card too.  After I had it all put together, it looks like I should have added more heart punch outs to the cute monsters' tummy, next time!

Not too bad for my first one, I'm happy with the way it turned out and I hope Wesley's teacher will like it too.

Hey, Valentine

Good Monday morning.  Things around here have been pretty sick of late.  Both my husband and I have had colds and not just little colds, but the colds that hang around for at least two weeks sometimes three.  Hubby is off to see the doctor tomorrow as he has it worst then I.  Today I'm finally starting to feel much better.

Here is the Valentine that I was working on the last time we talked.  Now it doesn't look like a great creation, but I made this in mind of having children from infant all the way up to after school kids receiving these where my grandson goes to daycare.  I purposely didn't color in the image, as my daughter will be adding about four crayons to each package.  That way the kids can have fun coloring it in the way they want it to look.  We also added a package of Goldfish to go along with the "glad you're in my school" theme.  She is so excited to give these to the daycare kids next month!

The stamp set is a retired one, called Hey, Valentine.  I used Whisper White card stock and Archival Black ink.  My daughter will use some ribbon that she picked up, as I didn't have any spools of red!!

Watercoloring With A Acrylic Block

Good Wednesday to all.  I hope all is well in your part of the world.  Hubby and I have been down with colds, mine is a head one and his is a chest cold, so we are taking it easy today.

I found this technique in my e-mail in box last week.  Sandy MacIver shared a great video on how to do this, so I wanted to give it a try.  I'll share my two creations with you today.  It is really an easy one to do, just remember that no two cards will look alike and don't judge the background until you stamp your images, it really does make a huge difference.

The first card I did just like her video:

Mine came out darker than hers, so I think I need to use less ink with the more vibrant colors.  Then I tried a different color combo.  I used Crumb Cake, Pink Pirouette and Marina Mist on my second try, and this is what I came up with.

When I saw the finished background, it looked like it should be on the beach!  So I use the new stamp set, High Tide.  I love how it turned out!!  This would have also worked with the stamp set Wetlands too.  I used Smoky Slate and Basic Gray for the lighthouse, as I didn't want the lighthouse to stand out too much from the background.  The grass was stamped in Soft Suede.

Now onto some Valentine cards and birthday cards too!  See you Friday!  Mary

Inside the Lines

Good Monday morning to all of you!  Yes, I've been missing in action again.  I had a tooth pulled last Monday morning and I just decided to take it easy the rest of the week.  Last night, my oldest daughter and I were texting back and forth about making Valentine cards for Wesley to hand out at day care next month.  We finally decided on a design and we are both excited to get them made and be ready for February 14th!  Last year Wesley received some V-cards, but my daughter didn't know that all the kids at daycare hand them out, she felt bad, but this year she will be ready to share too!!  I'll share it with you later on.

Now for the card I'm sharing today, this card was made using some of the new Sale-A-Bration free paper called, Inside the Lines.  This is right up my alley, as I LOVE to color!  I had cut out two card fronts for future card use and hated to throw out this scrap, so I used it as a practice piece for the new Watercolor pencils and the Blender pen.  I think it came out rather nice, what do you think?

I did use the retired Paper Doilies and Scrip embossing folder on this card.  I wanted the background to be simple so the paper would really stand out.  I mounted the paper on a scrap piece of Silver Glimmer paper.  This card will be going to a friend who has just started chemo, wanted to let her know that we are praying and thinking of her.

Brr.... is it cold in your part of the country?  It was 1 degree here this morning and we had about 2 inches of snow yesterday, so the wind chill was -10 this morning.

I've had this card made since last week but just have been to busy with "stuff" that is going on right now.

I made this card to send as a thank you card for a online order that I received from a friend and customer, so I thought I would make a card that she could use.

The items that I used are from the new Occasions catalog and they are from the Sending Love Suite.  There are a lot of cute items in this suite too.
